Butler Earns National Honors

SEATTLE - A day after its historic 16-13 win over No. 3 USC, the Washington football team has vaulted into the Associated Press top 25 ranking, earning the No. 24 spot in today's poll. The Huskies also received 42 points in the USA Today coaches' poll, ranking them the equivalent of No. 31.

The Huskies were last ranked in the AP top 25 in October of 2003, when an 18th-ranked UW team lost to UCLA and fell out of the rankings.

Washington did not receive a vote in either poll prior to this week, making its jump into the top 25 even more remarkable.

USC dropped from No. 3 to No. 12 in the AP poll while No. 6 California is the other ranked Pac-10 team.

The Huskies next face Stanford Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. in Palo Alto.
