Butler Featured in Department of Justice Web Campaign
July 25, 2000 Seattle - Washington junior cornerback Toure Butler is one of several individuals featured in a new web site by the Department of Justice to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Butler, a cornerback on the Husky football team, was initially declared ineligible by the NCAA in 1996 for not meeting admission requirements. He successfully filed an Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuit and was allowed to join the team and accept a scholarship. He is currently on schedule to earn a degree in sociology. Butler missed the 1999 season due to knee problems, but is expected back for the 2000 season. Also featured on the Department of Justice web site is professional golfer Casey Martin.
