Old Settlers' Picnic and Parade Photo GalleryFERNDALE, Wash. - The 115th Old Settlers' Picnic in Ferndale, Wash., took on a Purple and Gold flavor Saturday as the town celebrated one of its most famous - and most beloved - sons, Husky quarterback Jake Locker.

Locker, the UW's senior signalcaller, was feted as an honored guest in the Grand Parade through downtown Ferndale on a day designated as "Jake Locker Day" by major Gary Jensen.

Locker rode atop a vintage fire truck, joined by offensive linemen Cody Habben and Ryan Tolar and former UW fullback Paul Homer, as well as Locker's chocolate lab, Ten.

The parade was just one aspect of Whatcom County's annual four-day event, which also features a number of family activities, live music, a carnival and much more.

The parade started near Ferndale High School, worked its way south and west down Third Avenue and then took a left on Main Street before concluding at Pioneer Park.

The Ferndale High marching band and cheer squad, the "FernDawg" RV, a number of veterans' groups and various politicians were led through their paces by police and fire vehicles from Ferndale and the surrounding county.

Go Huskies!
