Seferian-Jenkins Makes Mackey Award Watch List
July 10, 2012
Washington's Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end, the Nassau County Sports Commission announced today. Seferian-Jenkins was one of only two sophomores and three Pac-12 tight ends on the list. Last season, Seferian-Jenkins played in all 13 games, starting 10 as a true freshman, catching 41 passes for 538 yards and six touchdowns. His 538 receiving yards were second-most in UW history for a true freshman and third-most ever by a tight end. He also played on the UW's Pac-12 champion basketball team following football season. The Mackey Award will be presented Dec. 6, 2012. Semi-finalists will be named on Nov. 12 and finalists will be announced on Nov. 19. The Huskies open the 2012 season Sept. 1 when they take on San Diego State at CenturyLink Field. For the complete Mackey Award watch list, click here. |
