July 9, 2012
Washington quarterback Keith Price has been named to the preseason watch list for the annual Maxwell Award, given to the nation's top college football player since 1937. Price, a junior from Compton, Calif., was one of 65 players named to the watch list, including 14 from Pac-12 schools. Last season, Price broke a number of school records in his first season as the UW's starting quarterback. He completed 242 of 362 pass attempts for 3,063 yards and 33 touchdowns. His 33 TD passes set a single-season school record, as did his 161.9 pass efficiency rating and his .669 completion percentage. The Huskies open the 2012 season Sept. 1 vs. San Diego State at CenturyLink Field. Semifinalists for the award, which is presented by the Maxwell Football Club, will be announced October 29 and three finalists will be named on November 19. The award will be presented December 6.
