High school and youth football coaches are invited to join Husky head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff for two days of instruction on a wide range of subjects from a terrific roster of speakers. After a video software training session with representatives from Hudl, registration for the clinic begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13, with the clinic formally getting underway at 4:00 p.m. Sessions with some of the clinics headline speakers are followed by dinner, catered by Famous Dave's BBQ and a presentation from Coach Sarkisian. Roundtable breakout sessions with the UW staff are capped off by a coaches' social in the Founders' Club in Alaska Airlines Arena, with pizza provided by Varlamos' Pizzeria. On Saturday, April 14, after a continental breakfast from Top Pot Doughnuts, the series of speakers begin at 8:00 a.m., beginning with the UW's head strength & conditioning coach, Ivan Lewis. Lunch will be provided by Adrenaline Fundraising and coaches are then welcomed to stay for a UW football spring practice, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility. The roster of speakers includes three top high school coaches, an NCAA champion head coach and the Seattle Seahawks' defensive coordinator. Beau Baldwin, head coach at Eastern Washington, led the Eagles to the NCAA FCS championship in 2010. In 2011, he coached EWU quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, who won the Walter Payton Trophy, given to the top player in the NCAA FCS division. Baldwin, who graduated from Curtis High in Tacoma and played quarterback at Central Washington, was named the national Coach of the Year by several organizations following the 2010 season. Gus Bradley enters his fourth season as defensive coordinator with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. Last season, Bradley oversaw an up-and-coming unit that finished ninth in the NFL in total defensive, allowing just 332 yards and 19.7 points per game. A former assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bradley was a four-time academic all-conference selection at North Dakota State, where he played on a national championship team in 1988. The three high school coaches who will speak at the clinic are each among the top of their profession. Butch Goncharoff has led Bellevue (Wash.) High School to an incredible nine state championships over the last 11 seasons, including the last four in a row. His Wolverine teams have consistently been ranked among the nation's best programs, have posted victories over several of the West Coast's top programs and have sent numerous players on to the college ranks. Steve Belles has served as the head coach at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz., since 2006. Belles has led the Huskies to four state championships and boasted a 53-game winning streak between 2008 and 2011. A three-time state coach of the year in Arizona, Belles graduated from Notre Dame, where he was a member of the Irish's national championship team in 1988. Finally, Bob Ladouceur has established himself as one of the most successful high school football coaches ever during his 33 years in charge of the De La Salle football program in Concord, Calif. Ladouceur has won 17 state championships and he's been named the National Coach of the Year by USA Today five times. De La Salle's 151-game winning streak holds a place as one of the great achievements in football history and more than 80 Spartans have earned college football scholarships. The cost of the clinic is just $90.00 for both days or $50.00 for one day (must pre-register for those prices), and any coaching staff that pre-registers four or more coaches receives a discount of $5.00 per coach. Additionally, WIAA clock hours are available.
