Six UW Football Players Earn Academic Honors

Lopez and Walker named first-team Academic All-Pac-12

2012: Saw first action of 2012 season at wide receiver vs. Portland State ... also played at Colorado ... served as a game captain for the USC game.

2011: Handled all of the PAT and field-goal holding duties during the 2011 season ... former walk-on awarded a scholarship prior to the start of the season ... earned second-team Academic All-Pac-12.

2010: Walkon saw first career action vs. Washington State, serving as the team's holder after an injury to starting holder Cody Bruns.

2009: Joined the team as a true freshman walkon ... participated on the service teams, but didn't see any game action and redshirted the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior, named first-team All-KingCo 4A Crest Division as a defensive back and second-team as a punter ... helped lead Skyline to a 14-0 record and the 4A state championship as a senior in 2008 ... in the state title game, scored the game's first touchdown on a five-yard reception ... in a semi-final win over Ferris, intercepted a pass in the end zone to thwart one fourth-quarter drive and then broke up a pass on Ferris' final drive to preserve the win ... also helped the Spartans to a perfect 14-0 record and the state championship as a junior ... listed as a "white chip prospect" by the Seattle Times following senior season ... also played outfield and pitched for the baseball team ... played football under coach Mat Taylor.
