Belmont, Portland State Post-Game Quotes
Nov. 13, 2009
2009 Athletes In Action Classic Portland State Head Coach Tyler Giving
"Turnovers. You throw it away 19 times and you aren't going to win too many games. We got outrebounded 40-34. They got a lot of second-chance points. They were just a lot bigger and more physical than we were inside. With that being said, if we take care of the ball... We had our chances. OI thought we had a good game plan. We had a good scout. We knew their personnel. It is a little tough to scout the freshmen. I thought they did a nice job of exploiting us. We had to make adjustments. We talked about it at timeouts. We couldn't stop the dribble penetration. (Playing three games in three days) is not the worst thing in the world. We can take a lot from it. For us, it is a good thing to get three games under our belt and see where we are at. For us, what really matters is getting ready for league play. These are good teams. They are legitimate teams. They are talented. We just need to continue to get better. Belmont Head Coach Rick Byrd On starting out the season with a big win over Portland State: On the test of playing three days in a row: "I don't know if I'd tell you on Sunday afternoon after we are dead tired, but it's great. For Washington, they need to win these games because they're thinking at-large down the road. For us, we're just hoping to be a better team when we leave here Sunday." |
