Defending Pac-12 Champs Picked To Finish Fifth

SAN FRANCISCO -- The defending champion Washington Huskies were selected to finish fifth in the 2012 Pac-12 Conference men's basketball race, according to a poll of media members who cover the conference. Washington received two first-place votes. Arizona narrowly edged UCLA as the team picked to finish first. Arizona finished one-point ahead of UCLA and received one less first-place vote. California was selected third, followed by Stanford, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Washington State, Arizona State and Utah. The Huskies were selected fourth last season but went on to win the 2011 regular season championship. The last time the Huskies were picked to finish fifth in 2009 they ended up winning the Pac-10 Championship. Media have correctly picked the Conference winner 12 times in 20 tries.
