Hoops Receive Votes In First USA Today Coaches Poll

SEATTLE -- The first USA Today Coaches poll for men's basketball was released today and Washington was just outside of the top-25 rankings. The Huskies tallied 29 votes, which equates to 30th in the rankings. Five teams the Huskies are scheduled to play in the upcoming season did crack the top-25. Duke is No. 6, Arizona No. 16, UCLA No. 20, Marquette No. 21 and California No. 24. North Carolina, who ended the Huskies season in the third round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, is the pre-season No. 1 ranked team. The Tar Heels received 30 of 31 first place votes. The other first place vote went to No. 2 Kentucky. Ohio State is third, followed by Connecticut, Syracuse, Duke, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Memphis and Florida. |
