LOS ANGELES - The rest of the world is finding out what Washington fans have known all season long - that Washington guard Isaiah Thomas is one of best the freshman basketball players in the country.

The Tacoma native earned two national honors this week for first-year players, earning Freshman All-America first-team honors by CBSSports.com and being named to The Sporting News All-Freshman Team.

The UW's all-time leading freshman scorer, Thomas is rapidly becoming the most prolific first-year player in UW basketball history. He is among the school's leaders for freshman minutes played, assists and steals. He is the Pac-10's top freshman scorer and was named the league's Freshman of the Year.

Thomas was also lauded by Pac-10 coaches earlier this week as being more than just a freshman phenom when they named him to the all-Pac-10 second-team.

Washington returns to the Staples Center court in Los Angeles today at 6 p.m. against Arizona State in the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament semifinals. The 10th-ranked Huskies are the tournament's number one seed. The game will be televised live in HD by FSN.

Go Huskies!
