Ross Earns Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

SEATTLE - Men's basketball sophomore Terrence Ross has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15, 2012. The guard from Portland, Ore., helped UW defeat rivals Washington State and Seattle U, averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per game. Ross' most outstanding performance of the weekend came agains the Cougars, when he lit WSU up for 26 of his 30 points during an 18 minute stretch of the second half. For the game, Ross hit six of his nine three-point attempts, and added 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals. His dominant second half ignited a 26-6 second half run and helped UW overcome a 10-point deficit to win 75-65. Against Seattle U, Ross contributed 12 points and six boards on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting. Thanks in part to Ross' effort, UW is half a game out of first place in the Pac-12 heading into a crucial weekend where the Huskies will face league co-leaders California and Stanford.
