Box Score

LOS ANGELES - High-flying sophomore Jeff Trepagnier tied a career-high with 22 points, many on show-stopping slam dunks, and USC upset Washington 70-57 in front of 3,044 raucous fans at the nostalgic L.A. Sports Arena.

Trepagnier, who stands only 6-4, also grabbed 10 rebounds to notch an impressive double-double. His three steals keyed a ferocious Trojan (13-11 5-10) defense that limited the Huskies to 38-percent shooting and forced 24 turnovers, which ties a season-high.

In the last three games, SC has knocked off Stanford, lost in the last minute at UCLA and thumped Washington. All three of which are ticketed for the NCAA tourney.

7-foot center Todd MacCullouch scored 20 and pulled down 15 boards to lead the Huskies (16-10 9-7).

Troy closes out the home season Saturday at 5:00 against Washington State.

Quotes-
USC Coach Henry Bibby:
"We're getting better. I'm proud of the group. We've played pretty well the last eight or nine games. We had only nine turnoves tonight. We did a lot of things as a team.

"This is the way he (Trepagnier) played in the non-conference...rebounding and running the floor. And when he does, he comes up with big numbers. He's young, a sophomore. He didn't play at all last year. We're laying a foundation for the future.

On Defense against MacCulloch:
"That was the same game plan against Stanford...make the inside game beat us with big numbers. And that's the way we played at Stanford."

Washington Coach Bob Bender:
"Give USC a lot of credit. They played harder, executed better. They beat us in every facet of the game. We couldn't handle their zone trap. We didn't understand how well USC can play."

USC Guard Jeff Trepagnier:
"Instead of shooting from the outside...I've just decided to go to the hole the past few games. And it's been really successful for us. We're trying to finish up strong...and get a N-I-T bid. We need (to win) three of the last four."

Go Huskies!
