TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Bobby Lazor scored 19 of his career-high 32 points in the second half as Arizona State beat Washington 94-85 Saturday night.
Lazor played hard on both sides of the game, contributing 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Sun Devils (16-8, 6-5 Pac-10), led by as many as 12 points in the first half and by Jeremy Veal's 16 points, took a 49-38 lead at halftime. Veal, the Pac-10's leading scorer, finished the game with 22 points, his fifth consecutive 20-point game.
Washington (13-7, 6-5 Pac-10) came out strong in the second half with 12 points by Todd MacCullough, and took the lead on a jump shot from Donald Watts with 2:21 remaining. McCullough finished the game with 26 points, 17 rebounds, and two steals.
A pair of three-pointers late in the game from Mike Batiste and a basket off a steal from Veal secured the game for Arizona State with just under four minutes remaining.
The win pushed the Sun Devils into a tie for fourth in the Pac-10 with Washington and guaranteed Arizona State a winning season.
