Oct. 8, 2009 PHOTO GALLERY: Fall World Series SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team got its annual intrasquad "Fall World Series" underway Wednesday at Husky Ballpark with the Purple team beating the Gold, 6-4, in game one. Sophomore Andrew Kittredge started and went four innings for the win, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits. Lefty Ben Guidos worked the final three innings for a save. Guidos didn't allow a run or a hit in his work. The Purple team took the lead in the first on a sacrifice fly from freshman Jacob Lamb and a two-run homer from fellow freshman Chase Anselment. The Gold answered with a solo homer in the first from Caleb Brown, but could never draw even. The Purple team posted a run in the third when Lamb singled and scored on an Aaron Russell double and another in the fourth when Pierce Rankin led off with a homer. The Gold team got three runs back in the fourth as Miles Kizer singled and scored on an error and David Bentrott drove in a pair with a double. Finally, in the seventh and final inning, the Purple squad added insurance when pinch hitter Brady McGuire led off with a double and, running in his place, Thomas Wilcox scored on a single from Jarret Jackson.
