Diamond Dawgs Open Fall Practice Today
Sept. 14, 2009
Info & Registration for Alumni Weekend SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team opened its fall practice season today. The Huskies, under first-year head coach Lindsay Meggs, will spend the next four weeks on the field at Husky Ballpark in preparation for the 2010 season. The first day of school at the UW isn't until Sept. 30, so until that day, the Diamond Dawgs will hold two-a-day practices most days. After school starts, practices will be held once a day with the fall season wrapping up with the Alumni Game on Sunday, Oct. 11. The 2010 Huskies welcome back seven position players who started at least 25 games last year, including IF Pierce Rankin, OF Caleb Brown, OF Brendan Gardner-Young, IF Andy Bethel, 1B Troy Scott, IF/OF Julien Pollard and IF Doug Cherry. On the mound, back are the Huskies' two pitchers in terms of appearances last year in righty Andrew Kittredge and left-hander Geoff Brown, along with seven other returning veterans. Here's a schedule of the Huskies' fall practices (updates will be added as the fall progresses). Fans are encouraged to attend the "Fall World Series" games in early October.
