Camporeale, Pehl Earn Summer Honors

Washington's Michael Camporeale and Robert Pehl each earned accolades for their summer seasons today. Both were named to PerfectGame.com's summer All-America team while Camporeale was named the Hitter of the Year in the Coastal Plain League. Camporeale earned a second-team spot on the All-America team as an outfielder. In 42 games with the Edenton (N.C.) Steamers, he batted .340 with 19 doubles, nine homers and 42 runs batted in. He led the Coastal Plain League in doubles, homers and RBI as well as slugging percentage (.623). His doubles total was third-highest in league history and his slugging mark was fifth-best. He'll be a senior for the Huskies in 2013. Pehl starred for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League, helping his team to the league's championship series. The sophomore-to-be from Chehalis was named a first-team All-America by PerfectGame.com at the designated hitter position. During the CCBL regular season, Pehl hit .329 with six homers and 38 RBI over 44 games. He also was 10-for-28 (.357) with four homer homers and seven runs batted in during the playoffs. The Huskies begin their fall practice season next month in preparation for the 2013 season. |
