UW's Pehl To Start Cape Cod All-Star Game

HYANNIS, Mass. - Washington's Robert Pehl, a member of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, has been named a starter for the annual Cape Cod League All-Star Game, which will be played July 28 in Harwich, Mass. Pehl, who will be a sophomore next season at the UW, has spent his entire summer season to date among the top hitters in the Cape, widely considered the most challenging college summer league in the nation. The second baseman from Chehalis, Wash., currently leads the league in runs batted in with 30 and in hits with 43. He's also third in batting with his .394 average. Pehl has been selected to start at designated hitter for the East Division all-star squad. Several other Huskies have been named all-stars for their summer-league teams. Michael Camporeale (Edenton Steamers) will play in the Coastal Plain League All-Star game Monday, July 23. The following day, Andrew Ely (Bellingham Bells) and Tyler Kane (Wenatchee Applesox) will play int he West Coast League game. Earlier this summer, Nick Palewicz (Santa Barbara Foresters) was a California Collegiate League all-star. |
