SEATTLE - Three Washington baseball players will represent their summer teams in all-star games in the coming weeks.
UW outfielder Michael Camporeale will participate in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game July 23 in Wilson, N.C., and will also perform in the home run derby. Camporeale is currently batting .336 with seven homers, 12 doubles and 31 RBI in 31 games for the Edenton (N.C.) Steamers.
Ely, who plays third base for the Bellingham Bells, and Kane, the closer for the Wenatchee Applesox, are both having solid seasons for their respective teams.
Ely, who will be a sophomore at the UW next season, is batting .330 with seven stolen bases in 27 games for the Bells. Kane, who will be a junior in 2013, leads the WCL in saves with 11. He's 1-0 with a 1.40 ERA over 19.1 innings this summer.
In addition to those three, earlier this summer, Husky pitcher Nick Palewicz was named to the all-star team in the California Collegiate League. Palewicz is currently 4-2 with a 1.86 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 29 innings for the Santa Barbara Foresters.
