Lincecum Adds To Honors With Second Team All-America
June 3, 2004
Collegiate Baseball magazine named Washington pitcher Tim Lincecum to its Louisville Slugger All-America second team today.
The honor comes a day after the Huskies' freshman ace from Renton's Liberty High was named the Pac-10 Conference's Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. Lincecum was also invited to the USA National Team trials on Wednesday.
Lincecum finished the regular season with a 10-2 record along with a school-record 151 strikeouts in 105 and two-thirds innings. His 151 strikeouts rank second in the nation only to Collegiate Baseball's Player of the Year, Jered Weaver of Long Beach State.
Lincecum will take the mound Friday afternoon against Tulane in the Huskies' first game at the NCAA Oxford Regional at the University of Mississippi. He was originally slated to pitch on Saturday, but scheduled starter Kyle Parker is still trying to shake off the flu and has been moved back a day.
No other Husky players were named to Collegiate Baseball's All-America teams. Next week, the magazine will announce its Freshman All-America squad.
