WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -
Two members of the Washington baseball team were named
to the 2005 All-Pacific-10 Conference first-team, conference commissioner Tom Hansen
announced today. Junior shortstop Brent Lillibridge and sophomore pitcher Tim
Lincecum both made the first team while seven other Huskies earned honorable mention.
Oregon State's Jacoby Ellsbury and Arizona's Trevor Crowe, both outfielders, were
named co-Player of the Year. USC sophomore Ian Kennedy was selected as Pitcher of
the Year and OSU shortstop Darwin Barney was honored as Freshman of the Year.
Beavers coach Pat Casey, who led OSU to the Pac-10 championship, was named Coach
of the Year.
Lillibridge, from Jackson High in Mill Creek, was named to the team for the third straight
season. The Huskies' starting shortstop in every game in 2005, he batted .330 and led the
Huskies in most offensive categories, including doubles (19), triples (4), home runs (tied
with 8), runs batted in (45) and walks (36). He was also second with 13 stolen bases and
made only six errors in his 55 games at shortstop.
Lincecum, a graduate of Renton's Liberty High, was the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and
Freshman of the Year in 2004. This season, he finished the year 8-6 with a 3.11 earned
run average. He led the UW with 16 starts, four complete games, 104 and one-third
innings and 131 strikeouts. Opponents batted only .179 off of Lincecum.
Six Huskies earned honorable mention: junior outfielder Zach Clem (Burlington-Edison
HS), senior pitcher Josh Conover (Kirkland/Lake Washington HS), senior pitcher
David Dowling (Kirkland/Juanita HS), freshman outfielder Matt Hague (Kent/Kentwood
HS), senior outfielder Taylor Johnson (Vancouver/Skyview HS) and freshman pitcher
Brandon McKerney (Edmonds/Meadowdale HS).
