Ticen Leads Baseball to Win over OSU

SEATTLE - Senior third baseman Kevin Ticen drove in six runs to lead Washington to a 12-4 win over Oregon State Sunday in the third game of a Pac-10 baseball series at Husky Ballpark.

The Huskies improved to 27-13 overall and 9-6 in the Pac-10, good for third place. Oregon State, after a 1-2 weekend in Seattle, fell to 15-30, 3-12.

In his longest outing of the season, UW junior Travis Anderson (2-2) picked up a win. Over seven innings, he allowed five hits, one unearned run and two walks while striking out six. OSU starter Pat Versluis (1-7), who was relieved with two out in the first, gave up four runs for the loss.

Ticen, the Husky co-captain from Bellevue, went 4-for-6 at the plate with two singles a double and his 11th home run of the season. Sophomore center fielder Tyson Boston drove in three runs on 2-for-4 hitting while catcher Dominic Woody finished 2-for-3 with a two runs and an RBI.

Oregon State first baseman Joe Gerber went 1-for-3 on the day to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. Beaver center fielder Eric Stark kept his 10-game streak alive with a single in four at bats and Rod Gott went 2-for-3.

The Huskies next action is next weekend, when they travel to face Washington State in a three-game series beginning Friday.
