April 13, 1999
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Washington baseball team scored runs in seven of nine innings to cruise to a 14-5 win over Oregon State Tuesday in a non-conference game at Goss Stadium/Coleman Field.
The Beavers, who made six errors, hit five batters and had two wild pitches in the game, managed to keep close throughout most of the game, but after trailing 3-2 going into the fourth, could never get any closer than two runs.
Washington put the game away in the eighth inning by scoring five runs. Dominic Woody had an RBI double, Bryan Williamson belted a two-run double and Matt Hollod blasted a two-run home run to account for the runs in the eighth. Pinch hitter Jake Gann's two-run double in the ninth capped the Husky scoring.
Washington improved to 20-12 with the victory while Oregon State, which has now lost 12 of its last 14 games, dropped to 12-25.
Husky sophomore Mike Bomar (2-2) picked up the win with six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out four. OSU starter Don Stykel (1-2) allowed six earned runs in six innings, walking four batters and hitting four others with pitches.
