2012 UW Baseball Preview, Part II: Catchers & Infielders

Diamond Dawgs open 2012 slate Feb. 17 at San Diego State.

PERSONAL: Born in Pasadena, Calif. ... son of Sarah and Fred Chen ... has an older brother, Michael, and a older sister, Heidi ... undeclared major, but considering civil engineering.

WASHINGTON
2013: Saw his first game action as a Husky in the UW's win at Arizona on May 3 ... pinch hit in the ninth and belted a double in his first college at bat that game.

2012: Didn't see any action during the 2012 season and thus utilized a redshirt year ... played for the East L.A. Dodgers over the summer.

SAN MARINO HIGH SCHOOL: Played two seasons on the varsity under coach Mack Paciorek ... served as a team captain as a senior ... missed most of junior and senior seasons due to injuries ... hit .476 as a junior ... named second-team All-Rio Hondo League as a senior and played in the San Gabriel Valley Senior All-Star Game ... an Eagle Scout ... graduated with a 3.9 grade point average.
