Husky Ballpark

Boasting views of majestic Mt. Rainier and a stunning lakeside location on the University of Washington campus, Husky Ballpark is one of the most beautiful places in the country for college baseball. In the summer of 2011, the facility begins phase one of a $15-million overhaul that will make it one of the best college baseball complexes in the nation.

The first part of the Husky Ballpark makeover is the addition of a $4-million clubhouse. To be opened in early 2012, the team building will feature:

• FULL COMPLIMENT OF COACHES’ OFFICES, VIDEO ROOM, AND TEAM MEETING ROOM

• 1,600 SQUARE FOOT LOCKER ROOM COMPLETE WITH PLAYERS’ LOUNGE

• FULL-SIZE BASEBALL-SPECIFIC ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM

• COMPLETE SHOWER AND RESTROOM FACILITIES

• UMPIRES’ LOCKER ROOM AND SHOWER FACILITY

• 1,300 SQUARE FOOT DIAMOND CLUB SUITE OVERLOOKING CHAFFEY FIELD

Washington Athletics is coordinating a funding plan to support the second step of the Husky Ballpark project. Phase two will be to construct a 2,500 seat stadium located at the existing site surrounding Chaffey Field. The new stadium has been designed to accentuate the natural surroundings, and will create one of the most unique and memorable settings for collegiate baseball in America. The stadium will cost approximately $11 million, and include:

• 2,500 CHAIRBACK SEATS

• PRESS BOX AND MEDIA AREA

• SIX PRIVATE SUITES

• ROOF COVERAGE OF APPROXIMATELY 25 PERCENT OF SEATED CAPACITY

• TWO OUTDOOR PARTY DECKS

• VIEW OF LAKE WASHINGTON FROM SUITES AND CONCOURSE AREA

• FULL COMPLIMENT OF PUBLIC RESTROOMS AND CONCESSIONS

• HUSKY TEAM SHOP, OFFERING SELECT APPAREL

The new complex will compliment the current playing surface at Chaffey Field.

The Infield
The infield consists of state-of-the-art FieldTurf. With only the mound and the plate area still consisting of real dirt, the new FieldTurf allows the team to much more easily play through or around poor weather.

The Outfield
The outfield is a natural grass surface with a complete in-ground irrigation and state of the art drainage system. The grass is a mixture of bluegrass, rye and fescue, which will make the facility playable in any weather.

The Warning Track
The entire field is surrounded by a 12-foot wide synthetic warning track that is colored in Husky purple. This modern-style warning track, combined with the artificial turf infield, make this facility relatively maintainence free.

The Dugouts
Both dugouts are level with the playing surface and are eight feet deep and 65 feet long. The Huskies are located in the first base dugout and the visitors at third base.

The Bullpens
The home bullpen is located in foul territory on the right field side while the visitors pen is located behind the left field fence. Both bullpens are fenced off from fair territory, but have direct access to the field. The home bullpen has four mounds, mainly for practice use. With artificial turf and tarps, both areas will be available in most weather conditions.

Go Huskies!
