Nov. 26, 2011
VANCOUVER, B.C. - Sophomore Justine Johnson capped a busy week with a great run at the Canadian Cross Country Championships today at Jericho Beach Park, as she placed fourth in the senior women's race. Johnson just competed in the NCAA Championships this past Monday, finishing as UW's fourth runner as the Huskies took second. Johnson, a native of Victoria, B.C., was the youngest finisher in the top-10 today. At a distance of seven kilometers, the course was a thousand meters longer than the standard NCAA course. Johnson covered it in a time of 26 minutes, 3-seconds. This was her first time competing in the senior championships. She was also the top finisher from British Columbia. On Monday, Johnson placed 65th overall at nationals, a career-best. She earned her second All-West Region honors with a 13th-place effort as UW won West Regionals, and earlier this week Johnson was named a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention. |
