High School and Personal: Born in Seattle, Washington ... parents are Suzanne and Robert Schippers ... has one older brother, Eric, and one younger brother, Hans ... his father was an NAIA All-American for Central Washington, finishing second at NAIA nationals in the 1,500-meters in 1982 and again in 1983, and was inducted into the CWU Athletic Hall of Fame ... his mother played basketball for PLU and his brother Eric also played basketball at the NAIA level ... on the track, was the Washington State 2A runner-up at 1,600-meters, running 4:17.66 in the final, and also took fourth in the 3,200-meter final ... one year earlier he was third at 2A state at 1,600-meters ... as a sophomore he made state at 800-meters and 1,600-meters, placing 14th in both ... swept Olympic League titles at 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m as a senior ... on the trails, he finished fourth at the 2010 2A state cross country championships as a senior, running 15:55 ... ran at the 2010 WA-OR BorderClash, placing 22nd ... finished 28th at Nike Team Nationals Regionals in 2010 ... also placed 17th at the 2009 state meet.
