09/14/2012 Men's Cross Country Season PreviewWashington returns all seven of its 2011 Regional competitors, a group that collectively had a terrific summer of training. 2012 (Cross Country): Redshirted the season, competing once unattached at the home Sundodger Invite, where he placed 49th in 26:16. High School and Personal: Born in Edmonds, Washington ... parents are Kris and Craig Nelson ... has one older siste, Rylie ... a four-year standout at Jackson, reaching the Washington 4A track championships all four years with three top-five finishes in his career ... as a senior in 2012, placed fourth in the 800-meter state finals, running a lifetime-best 1:53.04 ... made state in the 800-meters all four years ... also qualified for state in the 1,600-meters as a senior and a junior, finishing fourth his junior year with a PR of 4:15.72 ... in addition to placing fourth in the 1,600m, he was the 4A state runner-up at 800-meters in 2011, and also took seventh in the 3,200-meter finals ... a three-time WesCo champion on the track ... ran at the state cross country championships three times, with a best finish of 12th as a junior in 2010, earning All-State honors.
