Bywater earned an individual berth to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

2012 (Cross Country): Capped his cross country career with his best season yet, leading the Huskies in every race and qualifying as an individual for the NCAA Championships ... earned a spot at Nationals with a career-best eighth-place finish at West Regionals in Seattle, running 29:53 for 10k and earning All-West Region honors ... that eighth-place finish was the best by a Husky at Regionals since 2008 ... at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, he finished 69th overall, running 30:29 ... led the Huskies at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing 16th overall in 23-minutes, 58-seconds ... finished 45th at the Adidas Wisconsin Invite to lead UW ... placed eighth at the Bill Dellinger Invite in a time of 23:57 ... won the season-opening Sundodger Invitational at Lincoln Park, his first collegiate cross country victory, in a time of 23:48 ... earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2011-12: Led the Huskies in three of five races and scored at every meet ... best race was the inaugural Pac-12 Championships in Arizona, where he finished a career-best 16th, tops on the team, in 23:43 over 8k ... also led the Huskies with a 24th-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in 24:40, and was the top finisher at the Wisconsin Invitational, finishing 46th in the huge field in 24:28 ... was fourth on the team in 71st-place at NCAA West Regionals ... started the year with a fifth-place finish, second among Huskies, at the Sundodger Invite ... named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team ... (Track): Enjoyed an excellent indoor season, highlighted by his role as the anchor on UW's distance medley relay, which broke the school record on two occasions and advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships ... the DMR made up of Ryan Soberanis, Maurice McNeal, Brad Whitley, and Bywater, first broke the school record at the MPSF Championships, finishing in 9:35.06 to place fourth ... still needing a faster time for NCAAs, the group went to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invitational, and Bywater pushed the pace on the final 1,600m leg to help several teams, including UW, get the Auto standard, with the Huskies finishing in 9:31.68 ... unfortunately at NCAA Indoors, a fall on the first leg put UW out of contention, as they placed 10th, but all four still earned All-America Second Team honors ... ran a 3,000-meters PR indoors at the MPSF Championships, finishing ninth in 8:03.83, the seventh best mark in school history ... ran the open mile just once, clocking a 4:01.21 at the Husky Classic ... outdoors, missed several weeks due to some lingering pain, but opened up at the UW-WSU Dual and won a key race in the 1,500-meters, posting a time of 3:47.81 with a gutsy final kick ... ran 3:47.31 in the prelims of the Pac-12 Championships, making the final for the third time, but ran just 3:51.17 in the final to finish 11th ... garnered Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2010-11: The most consistent Husky throughout the fall, running in the top three at every race ... turned in consecutive top-40 finishes in the postseason, taking 39th overall at the Pac-10 Championships at Jefferson Park Golf Course, and then finishing 40th, second among Huskies, at the West Regional meet in Eugene to help the Dawgs place sixth overall ... led the team at Pre-Nationals, placing 69th in 24:38 over the LaVern Gibson Championship Course ... also led the team at the Notre Dame Invitational ... ninth at the Sundodger Invite, third on the team, as UW got the win ... the second Husky across, third overall, in the UW-WSU dual as the Huskies scored the victory ... earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention ... (Track): Strong season in his first full track campaign in two years ... qualified for the NCAA West Prelim Championships in the 1,500-meters, advancing to the quarterfinals where he placed 19th overall ... ran 3:48.47 in the West Prelim first round to advance ... ran a season-best 1,500-meter time of 3:46.14 at the Mt. SAC Relays, placing 12th in the open race ... made the Pac-10 1500m final, placing 11th ... took fourth in the Pepsi Team Invite 1,500m run in 3:48.30 ... opened his outdoor season with a big 5k PR, clocking 14:20.40 at the Stanford Invitational ... excellent indoor season was capped off with a career-best mile run of 4:00.53 at the UW Final Qualifier, that ranks fifth in school history ... that time ranked 29th nationally on the final descending order list ... took third in the mile run at the MPSF Championships, running a then-PR of 4:02.84 ... also ran 4:05.78 at the UW Invitational to place seventh overall.
2009-10: Had a terrific fall running attached for the first time, scoring for the Huskies in five of six meets ... named All-West Region after a 23rd-place finish at West Regionals in his first 10,000-meters, clocking 31:21 to help the team place fourth and earn a trip to NCAAs ... tough race at nationals saw him place 226th overall, seventh on the team as UW finished 18th ... finished 31st in his first Pac-10 Championships in 24:07 ... was UW's fifth scorer at Pre-Nationals, covering the 8k course in 24:40 to place 46th ... placed 29th at the Notre Dame Invitational, helping UW to the team win as its fourth scorer ... opened the season with a sixth-place Sundodger run in 24:17, 28 seconds than his freshman year ... earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic ... (Track): Redshirted the season.
2008-09: Competed just once as he redshirted the fall ... the top unattached Husky finisher at the Sundodger Invite, finishing 23rd overall in 24:45 ... (Track): Stellar freshman season included a West Regional bid and a near freshman school record ... reached the finals of the Pac-10 Championships at 1,500-meters in one of the most loaded years in conference history, placing 11th overall ... in the Pac-10 prelims, ran a PR of 3:44.53 that was just 0.17 seconds off Austin Abbott's freshman school record ... finished 20th overall in the 1,500m at Regionals in 3:54.00 ... won the 1,500m race at the UW-WSU dual, crossing in 3:48.86 ... also was second at the WSU dual in the 3k in 8:18.09 ... hit the regional mark for the first time at the Oregon Relays, going 3:45.43 to place sixth ... indoors, ran the lead-off 1200m leg on UW's distance medley relay which took second at the MPSF Championships in 9:36.21, an NCAA Provisional mark and the fifth-fastest in school history ... ran a 4:14.04 mile in only attempt of the year at UW Invitational.
High School and Personal: Born in Bellevue, Washington ... parents are Cindy Brooks and John Bywater ... has one younger brother, Johnny, and two younger sisters, Cia and Faith ... was the Washington State 4A Cross Country runner-up as a junior in 2006 ... also placed 12th as a senior and 21st as a sophomore ... won the Washington State 4A Track title at 3200-meters in both 2006 and 2007 ... also captured the 1600m state title in 2007, running a personal-best time of 4:10.70 ... finished 11th at the 2006 Nike BorderClash, and 21st in 2005 ... ran at the 2006 Footlocker West Regional, taking 11th-place ... led team to a top-five finish at state in his final three years ... helped track team to second at state in 2007 ... first team All-WesCo all four years in track, and three years in cross country ... considering a major in mathematics.
