Allison Linnell Joins 2008-09 Recruits

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland - Washington track recruit Kendra Schaaf put the cap on a great performance for her native Canada at the 2008 World Junior Track and Field Championships today in Poland. Schaaf ran in the 1500 and 5000-meters, earning a pair of Top-15 finishes.

Back on Tuesday, Schaaf placed 7th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:37.79. The Regina, Sasketchewan native was the top finishing North American competitor while the top four spots went to African runners.

Today, Schaaf ran in the third of three heats in the 1500-meters. She placed sixth in her heat in 4:22.29, the 13th-best time out of the 24 competitors, but the mark was just shy of making the 12-woman final. Schaaf finished just behind American Jordan Hasay, who made headlines last week by reaching the final of the 1500 at the U.S. Olympic Trials, a field which also featured four Huskies.

It was the second international competition for Schaaf, as earlier this year she led Team Canada with a 20th-place finish at the World Junior Cross Country Championships.
