Husky Tracksters Hope for Continued Success at PLU Meet.
March 7, 2001
SEATTLE--The Husky track teams will set up for a rematch with many of the same opponents they faced at home last weekend, only down the road at Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Wash., Saturday.
The Washington squads will take on teams from Seattle Pacific, Central Washington, Western Washington, Pacific Lutheran, and Puget Sound among others.
After a successful start to the outdoor campaign, with five individuals qualifying for the Pac-10 championship meet and one reaching an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, the Huskies look to repeat that success only a few miles from home.
Three members of the men's team will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., Friday and Saturday. Seniors Ja'Warren Hooker (Ellensburg, Wash.) and David Bazzi (Seattle, Wash.) along with sophomore Brad Walker (Spokane, Wash.) will represent the Huskies at the NCAA meet.
Full results from the Pacific Lutheran Invitational will be available on the PLU website at www.plu.edu/phed. Results from the NCAA Championships will be available daily on the NCAA website, www.ncaachampionships.com.
Keeping up with the Qualifiers
With only one outdoor meet under her belt, one Husky has already reached an NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Sophomore Kate Bradshaw (Issaquah, Wash.), earned a provisional mark in the 5,000m run, recording a time of 16:38.97 at the Washington Outdoor Preview last Saturday in Seattle.
In the case that not enough athletes reach the automatic qualifying standard, athletes who have reached the provisional mark will be added in order of performance.
