Carlson Named GoHuskies.com SAOTW
Jan. 28, 2013
SEATTLE –Jordan Carlson from the women’s track and field team has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 21-27. The senior from Spokane, Wash., broke her own indoor school record in the 400-metere dash and anchored the women’s 4x400m relay to the No. 3 time in school history. The senior's top heat of the 400m scratched down to just two competitors, so Carlson had little to push her except her own determination, but that amounted to a lot, as she went all out to stop the clock at 54.07 seconds, well under her old indoor school record of 54.67. That puts her at 13th nationally, and also broke the meet record set by Keshia Baker of Oregon back in 2008. Other nominees include: Aliza Vaccher (gymnastics), Andrew Andrews (men’s basketball), Kyle McMorrow (men’s tennis), Kasen Williams (men’s track and field), Kristi Kingma (women’s basketball) and Riko Shimizu (women’s tennis).
