Boase Forced To Withdraw From 400m Semis
June 23, 2012
U.S. TRACK & FIELD OLYMPIC TRIALS » U.S. Olympic Trials Home Page TV Schedule EUGENE, Ore. - Former Husky Jordan Boase was unable to mix it up with the nation's top quarter-milers today, as the five-time All-American had a foot issue and did not start the semifinals of the U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field. Boase had advanced through the first round yesterday, but did not get a shot at the final today. He could still come back after the break next week and compete in the 200-meters. With Boase out, the only Husky in competition today was junior Shaniae Lakes, but she struggled in the qualifying rounds of the triple jump. Lakes, the Richland, Wash. native, fouled her first two attempts, then jumped just 40-1 1/4 on her third and final try to finish 19th. Sunday is a big day, with Husky Hall of Famer Aretha Thurmond throwing in the discus finals, and nine-time All-American Norris Frederick going in the long jump finals. Current junior Logan Miller also will compete in the women's pole vault final, after qualifying was rained out two days ago. |
