EUGENE, Ore. -- Sophomore Ben Lindsey won the discus and shot put with NCAA automatic qualifying marks while Washington teammates Ja'Warren Hooker and Aretha Hill also won two events each, helping the Huskies to second place finishes Saturday during the Pepsi Invitational at Oregon's Hayward Field.
Lindsey, a product of Lynnwood (Wash.) High School, registered a shot put of 63-feet, 4-inches that was the third best performance in Husky history. His winning discus throw was 193-6.
Hooker, a freshman from Ellensburg (Wash.) High School, remained undefeated in nine sprint races this spring. He won the 100 meter race in 10.49 seconds and the 200 in 20.88.
Hill, a Renton (Wash.) High School graduate, topped the 200-feet barrier for the second time in the women's discus, winning by nearly 50 feet with a mark of 204-7. Her winning shot put was 48-1 .
Host Oregon won the men's and women's team titles. The Duck men amassed 210 points while Washington was second with 175. Colorado finished third with 155 points and Arizona State was fourth with 118.
The Oregon women scored 199.5 points, edging the Huskies who finished with 189. Colorado had a 135-point third-place total and Arizona State was fourth with 134.5.
Recording NCAA provisional qualifying marks for the Washington women were Keisha Griffis, who won the 400-meter hurdles in 57.59, and the 1,600-meter relay team with a first-place time of 3:38.26.
