The Husky sprint captains send in an update before competing this weekend in Idaho.

High School and Personal: Born in Seattle ... parents are Diane Sophusson and Melvin Smith ... has one older brother, William Steinke, and an older sister, Jordan Jackson ... her mother is a Washington alum ... she captured the Washington State 3A title in the 100-meter hurdles in 2011, running 14.50 into a headwind in the finals which was the fastest across all divisions ... also swept Metro League and District 2 titles in the 100-meter hurdles ... set a major personal-best at districts, when she ran 14.00 in the prelims ... also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash finals at state as a senior, and fourth as the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay and second as the anchor of the 4x200-meter relay ... competed at the 2011 USA Junior Championships, finishing 17th in the 100m hurdles in 14.60 seconds ... was fourth at state in the 100m hurdles as a junior in 2010, and eighth at state as a sophomore ... ran lead-off on third-place 4x100m relay team at state as a junior ... also competed as a multi-event athlete her first few seasons, even completing a decathlon in 2010 ... fifth in the heptathlon at 2010 Junior Olympic Regionals with a score of 3,905 points and was second in the Washington State decathlon competition with 5,320 points ... had a triple jump of 35-8 to place second at the Metro League meet in 2011 ... an accomplished gymnast as well, competing at state all four years and placing seventh at state in the vault in 2010 and eighth in the vault in 2011 ... also was on the cheer team for three years and was a two-year captain and an All-State cheerleader in 2009.
