01/11/2013 Season Preview: DistancesGoHuskies.com takes a look at the Husky track prospects this week with the UW Indoor Preview coming up on Saturday. 2012: Ran just once in his first season at UW, finishing the 800-meters in 1:55.06 at the Husky Classic in February. 2009-11 (Green River CC): Had an excellent track season at 800-meters, placing second in the NWAACC Championships in a personal-best time of 1:52.39 ... ran in Husky Stadium in the final Ken Shannon Invite, winning his 800m heat in 1:53.84 ... also won his heat at the Oregon Relays in 1:55.14 ... clocked 1:52.84 at the 2011 Portland Track Festival ... twice named a NWAACC Athlete of the Week in 2011 ... in the fall of 2010, placed 37th at the NWAACC cross country championships. High School and Personal: Born in Renton, Washington ... parents are Deborah and Oscar Hughes ... has two older sisters, Meghan and Kaetlyn ... a two-time captain of his high school squad, advancing to the finals of the 2009 Washington 3A state meet in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing third in 3:23.12 ... 4x4 relay also won the SPSL league and district titles his senior year ... also competed in cross country and lettered in basketball ... graduated with a 3.8 grade point average.
