First Pac-12 Championships Bring Teams To Eugene

ROOT Sports will air a two-hour tape delayed broadcast of the meet this Thursday, May 17, at 1:30 p.m.

2011: Started his sophomore season with a new PR, throwing the javelin 215-9 to take fifth at the Pepsi Team Invitational ... stepped up with a big toss of 226-6 on his fifth attempt at the Pac-10 Championships to place fourth overall, as the Huskies went second, third, and fourth in the javelin ... career-best toss of 227-2 came in the UW-WSU dual, as he placed third in a Washington sweep ... qualified for the NCAA West Prelims but was unable to compete as he suffered an elbow tendon injury which ended his season after Pac-10s ... finished ranked 36th on the national descending order list ... selected to the Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team.

2010: Excellent freshman season for the javelin specialist, as he qualified for NCAA West Regionals and scored at his first Pac-10 Championships ... at Pac-10s, he set a new lifetime-best with a toss of 213-feet 3-inches to finish eighth overall, one of three Huskies to score in the jav ... despite being seeded just 30th in the West Region heading to Austin, he made the final with a mark 209-4 and wound up finishing 16th overall in the West, missing an NCAA finals bid by just four spots ... threw over 200-feet and got the win in his collegiate debut, going 200-9 to win the JD Shotwell ... fifth in the loaded Pepsi Team Invite field at 207-9 ... third at the Brutus Hamilton Invite, sending the spear 203-feet, 2-inches away ... took third at the UW-WSU dual as the Huskies swept the top three javelin spots ... earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction.

High School and Personal: Born in Honolulu, Hawai'i ... parents are Elaine and John Brookman ... has one older brother, Mark ... his father wrestled at Idaho and brother Mark played basketball at Linfield College ... was runner-up in the javelin at the Washington 4A State Championships as a senior in 2009, placing behind fellow UW recruit Joe Zimmerman ... won the KingCo javelin throw as a senior ... did not start competing until his junior year of high school, and made it all the way to state, where he placed ninth, earning team Rookie of the Year honors ... won the Junior Olympic qualifier in July of 2009 with a throw of 201-3 ... also was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and lettered in football as a senior ... never missed a day of school from first grade through high school ... graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
