Fierce Competition Awaits At Pepsi Team Invite

Oregon will have a live, free web broadcast of the meet beginning at 12 noon Saturday.

2011-12 (Cross Country): Came on very strong late in the season, leading the Huskies at NCAA West Regionals after having run in the top-seven just once before ... at Regionals, in his first 10k, he placed 43rd overall and first among Huskies in 30-minutes, 23-seconds ... that came after he scored for UW for the first time at the Pac-12 Championships, placing 41st overall and fifth on the team in 24:31 ... season debut, and first official cross country race, came at the Wisconsin Invitational, where he ran in the B-race and finished 10th overall.

2010-11: Ran a full outdoor season after redshirting the indoor season ... ran a season-best 5,000-meters at the Pepsi Team Invitational, taking sixth in 14:30.95 ... twice ran the steeplechase, with a best time of 9:16.48 coming at the Mt. SAC Relays ... fifth in the steeple at the UW-WSU dual ... competed once indoors unattached, running 8:23.32 to place eighth in the 3k at the UW Final Qualifier ...(Cross Country): Redshirted the fall to preserve a year of eligibility ... was the top unattached runner for the Huskies at the Sundodger Invitational, placing 21st in his first college race in a time of 24:52 for 8k ... the top Husky, finishing second overall at the Emerald City Open at Woodland Park, running unattached.

High School and Personal: Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi ... parents are Soon-Yeo and Paul Beattie ... has two younger sisters, Heather and Ariana ... a multiple Illinois state qualifier in both cross country and track ... took fourth in the Illinois 3A State Cross Country Championships as a senior after winning the Upstate 8 conference title ... also took 13th at state cross country as a sophomore ... placed 12th at the 2010 Footlocker Midwest Regionals in Kenosha, Wisconsin ... ran at Nike Team Nationals in Portland in 2010, placing 28th overall ... a three-time All-State selection in track ... conference champ in the 1,600-meters as a senior, and ran the 3,200-meters at state, placing fifth ... also took eighth in the 3200m at state in 2009 as a junior ... ran at the 2008 Arcadia Invite, placing sixth in the 3,200-meters ... ten career state medals ranked second in school history.
