The captains of the UW distance runners take the first turn updating

2011-12 (Cross Country): One of three freshmen to suit up during the fall season ... began her college career with a strong run at the Sundodger Invitational, finishing 13th in a time of 21:44 running unattached ... donned the jersey a week later at the Roy Griak Invite, as she placed 170th overall in a time of 23:02 ... was the top Husky finisher at the Emerald City Open, finishing third overall in a time of 23:05 over the challenging Woodland Park course.

High School and Personal: Born in Belleville, New Jersey ... parents are Eleanor and Joe Amaral ... has two older brothers, Joseph and Marco, and one younger brother, Antonio ... placed second in the mile as a senior in the 2011 New Balance Indoor Nationals, clocking a PR of 4:49.23 ... ran the mile at the 2011 Penn Relays, placing third in 4:50.52 ... dominated outdoors at 1,600-meters as a senior, winning the New Jersey Meet of Champions title after also winning Group IV State, Sectional and Morris County titles ... was third in the mile run at the 2011 Brooks PR Invite held at UW's own Dempsey Indoor in February, running 4:52.32 ... won the New Jersey Group 4 State Championship indoors in 2011 at both 800-meters and 1,600-meters, breaking her own indoor county record with a time of 4:52.98 ... as a junior in 2010, took the state title outdoors at 1,600-meters and 3,200-meters and ran a 1,600m PR at sectionals of 4:52.29 ... third at the New Balance Collegiate Invite 1,000-meter run in 2:52.19 ... anchored her team to a third-place finish at New Balance Nationals in the 4xMile relay to earn All-America honors, and was ninth in the DMR ... also won the indoor state title in 2010 at 3,200 meters and was third at the Meet of Champions ... anchored her 4x800m relay team to fifth-place at the 2010 Penn Relays, and second amongst U.S. teams ... was named the Morris County Athlete of the Year by both the Daily Record and Star Ledger as a junior and senior ... in cross country, was fourth at Group IV state as a junior in 2009 and then sixth at the Meet of Champions ... won the Group IV sectionals title as a sophomore and junior ... her freshman year she was ninth at the Meet of Champions ... an injury limited her 2010 senior cross country season.
