March 27, 2006

SEATTLE-- Washington will send 17 swimmers to compete in the 2006 U.S. Spring National Championships in Federal Way, Mar. 28-April 1. The meet will take place at the King County Aquatics Center and all events will be long course meters. Approximately 700 athletes will take part in the event, which is one of three elite domestic meets that USA Swimming will sanction in 2006.

The Huskies will send nine women to the meet, including Brittany Epperson who just returned from competition at the 2006 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships two weeks ago. Joining Epperson on the women's side are Maryann Boosalis (100 breast), Marisa Chang (100/200 fly), Kim Jasmer (50/100/200/400 free), Kim Kripps (100/200 fly), Blythe Murray (relays only), Crystal Rawlings (relays only), Rebecca Rogers (relays only) and Lindsay Sharp (50/100 free).

Washington will send just eight men to the meet after sophomore Pat Penoyar came down with mononucleosis and had to withdraw. The Husky men will be represented by Mason Amick (100/200 fly), Jon Banker (100/200 fly), Taylor Brugh (100/200 back), Brenton Dowdy (relays only), Anthony Falaniko (relays only), Bret Lundgaard (100/200 fly/ 200 IM), Niko Micin (relays only) and Ivan Perhat (50/100 free/100 fly).
