    LOG BOOM MOORAGE

Once again, the University of Washington, Windermere Real Estate and the Seattle Yacht Club are excited to host the Windermere Cup Opening Day Regatta and Boat Parade along the shores of Lake Washington. Your safety and the management of the log boom that defines the course are of upmost importance to us throughout the weekend's events.

We are committed to keeping Opening Day and the Windermere Cup Regatta a community event that may be enjoyed by all. Rather than requiring registration and payment, we are asking all boaters who tie up for this event to donate a minimum of $10 per foot of beam width. Although your contributions will not completely pay for the log boom (the expenses to install, manage, and insure it annually exceeds $40,000) and your help to defray these costs are greatly appreciated.

The only way to guarantee your space is to make a contribution in advance. You can wait to tie up toward the east end of the log boom at your own risk although there is no assurance space will be available.

Please return the Boat Moorage Donation form by April 23rd, along with your donation, by mailing, faxing, or emailing it in and you will have secured a location. The moorage process begins at 12 noon on Thursday, April 30th and you must arrive before 8am on Saturday, May 2nd. Be aware that the Seattle Harbor Patrol will limit access through and around the Montlake Cut beginning 9:30am on Saturday, May 2nd.

Participation by all boaters is essential if we are to maintain moorage based solely on donations. Also, please note that gifts to the Dick Erickson Memorial Fund and the Husky Band/Cheer are welcome, but are separate from log boom moorage donations.

Thank you for your support, and please, help us keep Opening Day festivities safe and enjoyable.
