OAK RIDGE, TENN. - Washington women's rowing wrapped up the season at the final day of competition at the 2007 NCAA Championships this morning on Melton Hill Lake. The Huskies finished in 10th place in the team standings, scoring 25 points.

The UW varsity four also raced in the grand finals this morning, as the all-freshman crew took fifth place with a time of 7:53.75. UW had to fight hard in the final 500 meters to stave off the Yale crew, but the Huskies pulled through to finish ahead of the Bulldogs by 0.66 seconds. Virginia ran away from the entire field, posting a time of 7:35.03, more than 10 seconds fast than second-place finisher Brown.

The Huskies junior varsity boat finished in sixth place in the grand final, completing the 2,000-meter course in a time of 7:11.29. Minnesota won the race and the title, besting second-place finisher California by nearly three seconds.

The UW varsity eight boat raced in the C Final to determine place 13-16, along with conference foes California and UCLA, and the order from the Pac-10 regatta repeated itself, as the Golden Bears, Bruins and then Huskies crossed the finish line. Central Florida finished last, more than 10 seconds behind UW. In the grand final, Yale won the national title with a time of 6:37.08.

Next week, the Husky men will conclude their season, when they compete at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Cherry Hill, N.J., May 31-June 2.
