Husky Rowing Experience: 2005 (Junior)--Stroked the junior varsity eight for the opening three events before being promoted to the varsity eight crew ... moved into the stroke position of the top boat for the Windermere Cup, which UW won over the Czech Republic and Cornell ... helped the varsity eight place fourth at the IRA championships ... collected a silver medal in the varsity eight race at the Pac-10 championships ... a second-team academic All-American ... competed with the UW eight at The Great Race in New Zealand during September. 2004 (Sophomore)--Rowed in UW's winning eight at the Washington State dual race. . 2003 (Freshman)--Trained with the Huskies' freshmen. Personal: Son of Randi Strong-Soderstrom and Jeff Petersen ... father is a small business owner and mother is a real estate agent ... has an older brother, Erik (30) and older sister, Kirsten (23). I chose Washington because: Proximity to home and legendary rowing program.
