Personal: Daughter of Dave and Denise Mickelson ... comes from a family of Huskies ... parents both graduated from UW ... grandfather, Stan Mickelson, played basketball at for Hec Edmundson ... brother, Eric, ran track and cross country ... uncle, Bill, was a Husky rower and competed at Henley ... sister-in-law, Aleah, also ran track and cross country ... named to Dean's List as a freshman at UW.
I chose UW because: I grew up as a Husky and when it came time to go to college, my brother was a senior here and he gave me the grand tour. The rowing program sounded pretty good too.
The best thing about Seattle is: It's relatively close to Lake Quinault.
The best thing about UW is: The beautiful campus.
Favorite class: Communications 444
My best race was: Nations Cup 2000. Our boat was relatively inexperienced, but we took off from the start and lead until the finish. It was amazing to take all that I learned at UW and use it with another boat.
After I graduate, I plan to: Train for the next Olympics.
If I could tell my incoming teammates one thing, it would be: In whatever you do, do it with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.
Mickelson says: "Washington Rowing is fun for the whole family."
