2002 (Sophomore) - Squad Member. 2003 (Junior) - Two seat in the junior varsity eight that placed second at NCAA championships and helped Washington to a third place team finish ... member of crew that won gold at Pac-10 Championship and helped UW claim the Pac-10 team title ... rowed in junior varsity eight that placed first at the San Diego Crew Classic ... Helped the Huskies to victories at the Windermere Cup Regatta, Caifornial, Washington State and Oregon State duals in junior varsity eight.

Personal: Daughter of Mike and Gail Johannes ... father is a papermaker and mother is a dental hygienist and nurserywoman ... has one younger sister, Abbe (18).

I chose Washington because: All the combined strengths of scholastics and athletics are in a school that is affordable and close to home and the ocean.
The best thing about Seattle is: Water, water everywhere!
The best thing about UW is: It's the University of Washington.
Favorite Class: Drama 251 and English 337
My best race was: The final race at the 2003 San Diego Crew Classic. We were in a pack with WSU and Cal, with Cal inching up seats in the last half. During our sprint, the last 30 or 40 strokes, Megan called us up and we walked on Cal nine seats to win the race.
After I graduate, I plan to: Go to Teach for America and get my Masters in Education
If I could tell my incoming teammates one thing, it would be: Get in, sit down, shut up and hold on!
