Husky Rowing Experience: 1998 (Freshman): Rowed in the three seat with the freshman eight that won a silver medal at IRA Championships ... second at Pac-10s and San Diego ... 1999 (Sophomore): Three seat in varsity four that won the Pac-10 title ... bow seat on Opening Day ... three seat in San Diego ... 2000 (Junior): Bow seat in JV eight that won a bronze medal at IRA Championships ... bow seat in varsity eight that finished second at Pac-10 Championships and won Windermere Cup ... bow seat against California and Wisconsin and rowed two seat with varsity eight in San Diego.

Personal: Son of Janine and Cliff Hurn, who both attended UW ... father was a Husky rower from 1969-72 ... younger sister, Heidi, is a sophomore on the UW women's rowing team ... grandparents also attended UW ... also has a younger brother, Stefan (17) and a younger sister, Erika ... mother is a nurse and father is self-employed.

I chose Washington because: The great rowing tradition.

The best thing about Seattle is: All the water.

The best thing about UW is: Hanging out in Red Square.
