High School Sports: Track and cross country
Husky Rowing Experience:
2002 (Sophomore)--Rowed four seat in the varsity eight that won a bronze medal at IRA Championships ... member of the crew that won silver at Pac-10's and the San Diego Crew Classic ... won at the Windermere Cup ... helped lead Huskies to victories at the California, Wisconsin and Oregon State duals. 2003 (Junior)--Opened the season in the No. 5 seat, then moved to the bow for one race before settling into the No. 2 spot for the final five regattas of the season ... helped the UW varsity eight to its first Pac-10 championship since 1997 ... member of the silver medal crew at the IRA Championships ... rowed on UW's victorious eight in the Ladies Challenge Plate competition at the prestigious Henley Regatta in England. National Team Experience: Rowed on the US national team summer 2002 ... won bronze in the pair at the 2002 Under-23 World Championships. Personal: Son of Jane and Mark Burns ... mother is a pediatrician and father is a urologist ... both attended Washington ... one younger brother, Joe (15) ... Eagle Scout ... father rowed for UW in the 1970's.
