As the University of Washington has one of the most recognized and successful programs in intercollegiate athletics, The Huskies have a strong tradition of excellence both on and off the field of play. Here are some of the highlights of the Husky tradition of excellence over the years:

  • Washington graduated 70% of the 1996 freshman student-athlete class.
  • 22 of 23 Husky teams competed in post-season play in 2003-04.
  • Washington finished 8th (out of 327) in the Directors' Cup during the 2003-04 academic year. The award is given to the institution with the greatest success in both men's and women's sports.
  • NCAA Women's Crew National Champions 1997, 1998, 2001 and runner-up in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004. Men's IRA national champions in 1997.
  • Softball College World Series participant seven of the last ten years.
  • NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament participant in eight of last nine years.

  • Gymnasts have competed in postseason 23 straight seasons.
  • Football team has had a winning record 27 consecutive seasons. Washington is currently tied for the third on the active list.
  • Husky Student-Athletes earned 95 Conference All-Academic honors and 65 All Conference honors during the 2003-04 academic year.
  • Three Student-Athletes have received NCAA Post-graduate scholarships in the past four seasons.
  • Over the past fourteen years, Husky coaches have been awarded Conference Coach of the Year honors 28 times.

Our challenge is to insure that this great tradition continues, providing opportunities for student-athletes to achieve the level of success that those before them have enjoyed.
