Huskies Make Comeback For The Ages, Advance To Supers

SEATTLE – No. 7 Washington advances to the Super Regionals for the 15th time in program history following a historic six-run comeback to win game seven against McNeese 7-6 on Sunday afternoon.
The day started with McNeese forcing a winner-take-all game seven following a 1-0 victory.
McNeese jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the second game of the day with three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Down to their final three outs, the Huskies were looking for a rally with the middle of the order due up. Madison Huskey led off the seventh with a single. Jadelyn Allchin followed with a double to bring across Huskey for the first run for the Dawgs.
SilentRain Espinoza kept the inning going with the Huskies third straight hit to put runners at the corners. Rylee Holltorf brought in the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly. Kelley Lynch hit a single up the middle and pinch runner Avery Hobson came around to score following an error to cut the Cowgirls' lead to three. Alana Johnson came in to pinch hit and drew a walk. Megan Vandegrift was able to reach on a fielder's choice in the next at bat, but Lynch was out at third.
Now down to its final out, Washington looked to senior Baylee Klingler who was able to reach also on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Sami Reynolds hit a bases clearing double to tie the game at six. Huskey knocked in the game-winning run on a double to center.
The Huskies will face Louisiana in the Super Regional at Husky Softball Stadium. Game one is set for Sunday at 7 p.m. PT and airing on ESPN2. For all the latest tournament information, visit the tournament central page.
