Pitcher’s Duel Goes To Utah

SEATTLE – No. 9 Washington (31-10, 12-7 Pac-12) dropped the series opener to No. 18 Utah 2-1 on Friday night at Husky Softball Stadium.
Baylee Klingler broke the scoreless game with her 10th home run of the season in the third for the 1-0 advantage. Klingler had all three of Washington's hits with a double in the first and a single in the seventh.
Utah took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth on a pair of singles, the Utes' only hits of the contest.
Ruby Meylan tossed her 10th complete game of the season, striking out four along the way. Meylan retired the final seven of the final eight batters following the pair of runs in the fifth.
The Huskies continue the series vs. Utah on Saturday with a 4 p.m. first pitch. The game will air on Washington Live Stream 2.
